An invitation to the Moose Hide campaign inspired this week’s service. We welcome you to worship with United Churches of Langley. This week we have an opportunity to consider how we, as church, community, and individuals, can support survivors of violence, particularly violence against women, girls, femmes, transwomen, and genderqueer individuals. Those who are not read as cisgender males face much higher rates of violence, which has increased during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Gillian McLeod’s invitation to the Moose Hide campaign offers one way in which we can mark ourselves as visible allies to all women and girls. How might we expand our allyship and become accomplices to those facing violence? Intersections of marginalization dramatically increase rates of violence. Two-spirit people, indigenous women and girls, femmes, trans women and gender-non-conforming people need and deserve support.

At United Churches of Langley, we continue to strive to learn to support all people better and help to create the peaceful kin-dom as we follow in the footsteps of Jesus of Nazareth.
