A Community Celebration at the end of the May Day activities!

Come on over after the May Day festivities and gather at 4pm for a brief time of community connection.

The Alternative Worship Experience (AWE) will run from 4:30-5:30pm, followed by some time for those who want to linger a bit in conversation with the musicians.

This will be an interactive community experience of music, poetry, prayer and conversation, all weaved together as a beautiful tapestry of community.

Dave Quinn is a seasoned musician whose musical journey spans decades, traversing the realms of jazz and blues. Influenced by luminaries like John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, and Miles Davis, as well as blues icons B.B. King, Junior Walker, and King Curtis, and revered clarinetists Benny Goodman and Eddie Daniels, Dave's musical palette is as diverse as it is dynamic.

With a double major in saxophone and clarinet, Dave possesses a talent for blending and sculpting musical styles, crafting a captivating musical tapestry that resonates with audiences. Drawing inspiration from his esteemed mentors, he infuses each performance with his distinctive flair, soulful interpretations, and innovative arrangements.

Joined by acclaimed pianist Miles Black and bassist Tim Stacey, the Dave Quinn Trio forms an unstoppable rhythm section. Prepare to be swept away by their spellbinding performances, as they transport you on a journey through the heart and soul of jazz.

Miles Black is a highly respected career musician bringing an enormous wealth of musical experience and expertise to most every facet of the music industry.  Firstly known as one of Canada's most accomplished jazz pianists, Miles is also highly acclaimed and sought after as an arranger, producer, composer, session musician, guitarist, vocalist, bassist, saxophonist, songwriter, and musical theatre director.  Adding to that, he has worked as a music therapist and collegiate music instructor. Especially in Vancouver, Miles Black is well know as the "first call' when musicians are looking for top professional enhancements to their projects.

Timothy Stacey began playing music early on in Trinidad where he played steel pan, cuatro, guitar and bass. After returning to Canada, he studied music at the University of Victoria, York University and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He has played and recorded with numerous orchestral ensembles, musical theatre productions, choirs, jazz groups and solo artists. Stacey teaches bass at the Langley Community Music School where he plays in the Faculty Trio and accompanies the LCMS Fiddlers. He can be heard in and around Vancouver performing with his son Jean-Marc, and others.
