Saturday, March 4, 2023 - Murrayville site
9:30am - 12:00pm Congregational Retreat
12:00pm – 1:00pm Potluck Lunch
1:00pm - 2:30pm Annual Congregational Meeting
All are Encouraged to Attend!
We have scheduled this on a Saturday in hopes of including our entire congregation – from both sites, as well as those who participate in the non-Sunday ministries of United Churches of Langley. It has been far too long since we have been able to gather all together! Come and have some fun! We hope most will join in person! Scroll down if you'd like to download the ACM materials in advance.
If you are unable to join in-person, you can join online through Zoom. We are still working on the tech so please be patient with us for both morning retreat and afternoon Annual Meeting.
Here's how you can access through Zoom:
In the morning, Rev. Sophia and Rev. Ryan will guide you into conversation with each other in a World Café format about some of our ministry areas, and have you share your rich experiences and present excitements and hopes for the future. The framework for our conversations will be the Seasons: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer. We will talk about “planting trees under whose shade you may or may not sit.” ~ Nelson Henderson
We are in a liminal time – an in-between space in our church, and in all churches in general as well as society at large. Many old structures, previous ways of being and doing church, have fallen away, while new ways have yet to emerge. Let’s sit together in this “liminal space” and experience the richness of it, and cultivate practices of listening, to open up to the new thing we are called to be and do as a community of faith.
You will have the opportunity to engage with the financial analysis of the past 6 years to support our conversations and vote on the 2023 Budget at the Annual Congregational Meeting after lunch.
Bring a potluck dish to share in a feast of community (like the good ol' times) and enjoy continued conversation over a meal, followed by our Annual Congregational meeting where we will vote on our 2023 Budget and vote on new congregational leaders (positions still available!).
