Today is World Food Day, a time to remember that while we celebrate the gifts of plenty in our own lives, others are still in need.
We will hear passages from ancient law, and a familiar story of God’s generosity through the miracle of the loaves and fishes. How do we re-live the story of so many fed with so little? This is a challenge for us today, as it has always been. We are called to act it out and be a blessing to those in our community.
We will celebrate the ministries that take place each day, each week, as we offer ourselves in action, in compassion, in faith; to work with God to bring an end to hunger and need. In small ways, each of us can make a difference. Each of us is called to serve God and neighbour, so that all will find justice and blessing.
