The United Nations has declared October 16th as World Food Day.
Food is important to everyone on the planet. In many places in the world malnutrition, particularly among children, is a widespread issue, with high rates of stunted growth (chronic malnutrition) due to insufficient diets. This creates a cycle of poverty and hunger, where the lack of proper nutrition impacts education, work capacity, and overall quality of life. The dramatic increase in the cost of food has affected most of the world including Canada. The UCoL Social Justice and Outreach Team works hard to support food provisions in the Langleys and we will be discussing how people can and do contribute to support Social Justice and food provision.
