Today's reading is about a wedding, a joyous occasion, where the wine runs out. Jesus' reaction is a surprise for all.
What do we do in our lives today? Should we always "save the best for last" or is God calling us to follow Jesus in another direction?
The story of the wedding at Cana is written for a particular purpose in the Gospel of John, and it's all too easy to accept the conclusion, and then go on about our daily lives. But in a world where so many are in need, perhaps God is asking us to use the story as a starting place; to become involved in turning water into wine as a continuing miracle of love, participating in life to the fullest.
So come to the feast, and go out with renewed purpose and joyful hearts to share the grace we have been given. And later, as we gather in companionship, maybe you will share some fun wedding stories too.
