As the Advent/Christmas season is fast approaching, we are starting our traditional Christmas Hamper Fund Drive this Sunday, November 19, 2017.
This year we are planning to prepare hampers for 24 Langley families that are currently struggling and going through difficult times, with the hope that we can help them have joyous Christmas. Each family will receive several boxes of groceries and a gift for each member of the family.
Until Sunday, December 10, which has been designated White Gift Sunday, we will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items. Suggested items include: canned tuna, salmon or meats, canned vegetables and fruit, canned cranberry sauce, beverages (hot chocolate, fruit juice, tea & coffee, etc.), porridge or dry cereal, canned or dry packaged soup, cake mixes and cookies, pasta, pasta sauce and tomato sauce, peanut butter, canned beans and rice.
Special envelopes for cash or cheque donations are placed in the pews or you may simply add a donation to your regular giving marked “Christmas Hamper Fund”. A sign-up gift list will be available for those wishing to donate a gift for a child or an adult.
The hampers will be delivered to the families' homes by our volunteers on the morning of Saturday, December 16, 2017.
The support and generosity of the congregation have always made this most worthwhile venture a success.
This year again the UCoL Outreach Committee asks that you consider the circumstances of these underprivileged families, and to help them enjoy a better Christmas, we urge you to GIVE GENEROUSLY!
