All United Churches of Langley Congregants and Friends welcome and encouraged to attend!

Register TODAY!! by clicking HERE! (Please register ASAP so we can make plans for food & materials)

Our hope that ALL congregants will attend this important follow-up to the August 18 gathering in Fort Langley. As we understand and honour all the diversity in our congregation, we thrive together in our many expressions of ministry.

In this fun and engaging workshop, we will explore the different understandings of faith in our congregation, and learn how the theologies that are at play in our congregation influence our mission, vision and actions as a community.

Each theological approach will be “unpacked” to examine the implications for core questions such as:
· What do we believe God does (if anything)?
· What is the most pressing task of the church?
· What is the place of Scripture and what it means to listen to the Word?
· What is meaningful about worship?
· What is important about community?
· What key organizational and leadership issues does each approach present?

Workshop & Gathering Includes snacks, lunch, materials, followed by a short celebration of our 7th Anniversary as United Churches of Langley!

All are invited, Welcome and Encourged to Attend!

BIOGRAPHY
Rev. Dr. Janet Gear is an Assistant Professor of Public and Pastoral Leadership; Director of Denominational Formation (United Church of Canada) at the Vancouver School of Theology. Janet is an ordained minister in the United Church of Canada. She preaches, teaches and leads retreats within the BC Conference. Janet has served Presbytery, Conference, General Council and ecumenical committees for over thirty years, primarily in three areas: education for ministry and leadership, social justice and community organizing, and theology and faith. She was appointed to the Theology and Faith Committee of the General Council in its writing of the church’s most recent statement of faith (2006 A Song of Faith). Janet presented this workshop to the BC Conference Meeting at UBC in May 2017. Many of our leaders found it insightful in exploring our faith and our ministry.
